Gas Saving Tips

Starting your engine

Avoid prolonged unnecessary engine warm up. Even on cold mornings 30 to 45 seconds is plenty of time. Be sure the automatic choke is disengaged after engine warm up. If the choke gets stuck the result is a bad mixture of gas and air and excess gas is used up.

Buy gasoline during coolest time of day.

During these times gasoline is densest. Gas pumps measure volumes of gasoline, not densities of fuel concentration. So when buying gas when it is cold you get more gas for the same money.

Open windows cause higher fuel consumption.

Open windows mean more air drag and this causes higher fuel consumption. Keeping windows closed as much as possible will give you more miles to the gallon.
